- dEDUCATING THE cAPSLOCK kEY
-
- If you've ever forgotten that your CapsLock key is on
- then you have probably created phrases like "dEAR sIRS."
- The only time I encounter the DOS use-the-shift-key-and-get-
- lower-case-letters feature is when I want an upper-case letter
- and I've forgotten that the CapsLock is on. So I have to
- delete, retype, and then recover my train of thought. This
- is one of those rare cases in which the computer really should
- have known what I meant.
-
- The CAPSLOCK.BAS BASIC program creates a .COM file called
- CAPSLOCK that gives your CapsLock key enough common sense to
- know when you're thinking in CapsLock Off mode. Anytime you
- use the shift key with a letter key, the CapsLock turns off.
- Shifting nonalphabetic keys has no effect on CapsLock, so you
- can still get to all the special characters and punctuation
- marks.
